The period of most rapid facial growth occurs between the ages of 6 and 12.

The most important stimulator of facial growth is the tongue.

When we are born, our tongue lies almost fully in our mouth. By the age of 6, only 1/3 of it should remain there, with the rest of it lying within our throat.

The tip of the tongue should normally rest in the top of the mouth, inside the top teeth. When swallowing normally, it gently pushes against the top of the mouth, stimulating growth of the main bones holding our top teeth.

Making sure the tongue is able to do its job properly while your child is going through this rapid growth phase works with the body to enhance facial growth and development and maximize the room available for the teeth to grow into.
