Mostly when we think of breathing we think of Oxygen.

It comes as a surprise to most people, to find out that it’s actually the level of Carbon Dioxide in our body that makes us take a breath.

Not only does CO² tell us when to breathe, but we need it in our cells to take up the O² circulating in our blood.

In effect our cells need to have a healthy ‘bank account’ of CO² to ‘buy’ the O² they need to survive and function correctly from the blood.

If we aren’t breathing correctly, we can lose too much CO², which decreases in the amount of O² our cells can take up and use.
