A person breathes efficiently, breathes 16,000 - 20,000 times a day.

Good healthy breathing occurs when the lips are comfortably together, the tongue rests in the top of the mouth, and the breath passes through the nose silently. The diaphragm is the main muscle involved and there is a correct ratio of frequency to depth to provide proper gas exchange.

Keeping an open airway is a necessity. Anything that decreases the airway results in an immediate change of body posture.

Breathing is your body's number one priority. It will compromise the function of every other system in order to keep breathing.
